. My first three Giants have  been rescue dogs. Zack came first. in 2002. He was six years old and had been in three homes before he came to me. He was with me four years. Brie came to me in 2006 but only stayed for 2 1/2 years as she developed fibrosarcoma. She had lived in a crate her first four years but became easy with people and dogs. She was a wonderful girl and I still miss her. Zeus came soon after Brie died. He was only 14 months old when he came in March 2009. He is as clever, athletic and sweet as my first two Giants . Arthur, a 16 year old Miniature Schnauzer, was happy with Zeus because he was boss and could steal Zeus' bed. In May 2010, we were joined by Losi who was 1 year old. Losi is full of fun. She has a sweet and affectionate nature.  More pictures on the Zeus & Losi page.

On December 27, 2009, we lost Arthur, the Miniature Schnauzer, just two weeks shy of his 17th birthday. 2009 was a year of loss with Brie leaving us in February and then Arthur. However, balancing loss was the arrival of Zeus  and then Losi  I found a quote by Kahil Gibran on the South Central Giant Schnauzer Club newsletter's Giant Memorials page and it is so incredibly apt.

When you are sorrowful
Look again into your heart
And you shall see that in truth
You are weeping for that
Which has been your delight
